Privacy policy
What TransomBooking collects when you contact us, why we process it, how long we keep it and how you exercise your rights.
Last updated: March 2, 2026. This policy covers the public website at transombooking.com. The handling of trip and customer records inside the TransomBooking application by a charter operator is governed by the terms of service and by the agreement between that operator and their own passengers.
Who is responsible for your data
The controller of the personal data described in this policy is MLJ, SASU, the publisher of TransomBooking. Full company identification, including the registration numbers and the registered office details, is published on the legal notice page. The publication director, Jimenez Julien, handles privacy requests personally and can be reached at jimenezjulien42@gmail.com.
What the contact form collects
There is exactly one place on this website where you can submit personal information: the request form in the contact section of the home page. When you send that form, the following named fields are transmitted and stored.
- name: the full name you type, so we know who we are writing back to.
- email: your work email address, which is the only channel we use to reply.
- company: your boat or charter business name, used to understand the operation you run.
- role: your role aboard, chosen from a fixed list such as captain and owner or dock or office manager.
- size: the number of hulls you run, chosen from a fixed list, so we can size the demonstration correctly.
- request: the kind of reply you want, chosen from a fixed list.
- message: the free text you write about how you take bookings today and what breaks first.
- consent: the record that you ticked the box agreeing to be contacted about your request.
- bot-field: a hidden anti spam field that a human never sees or completes.
- form-name, subject and recipient: hidden technical fields that route the message to the correct inbox.
We do not ask for a postal address, a telephone number, a vessel registration number, passenger details or payment card information anywhere on this website. Please do not put passenger names, card numbers or any other sensitive information in the free text message field.
Legal basis for processing
Under the European General Data Protection Regulation, we rely on two bases. Answering the request you deliberately sent us is processing necessary to take steps at your request prior to entering into a contract, under Article 6(1)(b). Keeping a short record of business enquiries so we can follow up, improve our answers and defend a claim rests on our legitimate interest under Article 6(1)(f). The consent checkbox records your agreement to be contacted about the request itself and can be withdrawn at any time by writing to us. Withdrawing it does not affect any processing carried out before the withdrawal.
Who processes the submission
Form submissions are processed and stored by Netlify, Inc., 512 2nd Street, Suite 200, San Francisco, CA 94107, United States, which provides the hosting and the form handling for this website. Netlify acts as our processor for that purpose and stores the submission in its dashboard so that we can read it. A copy is forwarded to the publisher's email inbox. No other company receives your submission. We do not sell, rent, trade or otherwise disclose the information you send for any advertising, list building or profiling purpose, and we never share it with another charter operator.
How long we keep it
Enquiries that do not lead to a business relationship are deleted from the Netlify form store and from the publisher's inbox within twenty four months of the last exchange between us. If your enquiry becomes a customer account, the enquiry record is kept for the life of the subscription and for three years after the account closes, which matches the period in which a commercial claim can normally be brought. You can ask for earlier deletion at any time and we will act on it unless we are legally required to keep a specific record.
Cookies, analytics and tracking
This website sets no advertising cookies, runs no third party analytics script and embeds no social network tracking pixel. There is no consent banner because there is nothing to consent to. The only technical data recorded is the ordinary server and content delivery network log kept by our host for security and abuse prevention, which includes an IP address and a request timestamp and is retained by the host for a short period. The fonts used on the site are served by Google Fonts, which receives the request needed to deliver the font file.
International transfers
MLJ, SASU is established in France and our host is established in the United States, so a submission sent from Europe is transferred to the United States. Netlify offers the standard contractual clauses approved by the European Commission for such transfers, together with its own technical and organizational safeguards. A submission sent from within the United States is processed in the United States. You can ask us for more detail about the safeguards in place at any time.
Your rights if you are in the United States
Depending on the state you live in, you may have specific statutory rights over the personal information described above. Residents of California under the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended, and residents of Colorado, Connecticut, Utah and Virginia under their respective state privacy statutes, may request access to the personal information we hold about them, request its correction, request its deletion, and obtain a portable copy of it. California residents may also ask us to disclose the categories of information collected and the purposes for which it is used.
We do not sell personal information and we do not share it for cross context behavioral advertising, so there is nothing to opt out of under those headings. We do not use the information you send for automated decision making or profiling. Exercising any of these rights will never result in a worse price, a slower reply or any other form of discrimination. To make a request, write to jimenezjulien42@gmail.com from the address you used on the form, or tell us enough for us to match your request to your submission. We answer within forty five days and will tell you if we need the extension the statutes allow.
Your rights if you are in the European Union or the United Kingdom
You have the right of access to your personal data, the right to rectification, the right to erasure, the right to restrict processing, the right to data portability, the right to object to processing carried out on the basis of legitimate interest, and the right to withdraw consent where consent is the basis. Send any of these requests to jimenezjulien42@gmail.com and we will answer within one month. If you are not satisfied with our answer you may lodge a complaint with your national supervisory authority, which in France is the Commission Nationale de l'Informatique et des Libertes.
Children's privacy
TransomBooking is a business product sold to charter operators and marine tour companies. The website is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the age of sixteen. If you believe a child has sent us information through the contact form, write to us and we will delete it promptly. Passenger manifests entered by an operator inside the application may include the names of minors travelling with their families, and that data is controlled by the operator under their own privacy notice, not by us.
Security
The site is served only over an encrypted connection. Access to the form submission store and to the publisher's inbox is protected by strong authentication and is limited to the publication director. Because the website itself is a set of static files, it holds no customer database and offers no login of its own, which removes an entire class of risk.
Changes to this policy
If we change how enquiries are handled, this page is updated and the date at the top of it changes with it. Material changes affecting people who have already written to us are also sent by email to the address they used. Continued use of the website after a change means you accept the revised policy.
